e-mail which is broadcast to the whole membership. This is mainly
used to source difficult to find components.
- Workshops for 25-30 people on specific topics. Subjects planned
for 2008/9 are:
- Avoiding the Pitfalls of Counterfeit Component Supply
- Storage: Hazards and Solutions
- Comparison of Component Monitoring Tools (in conjunction
with the COG Conference)
- Developing an Obsolescence Strategy
- Eight Working Groups which carry out tasks between main
meetings. These are:
- Steering Group – providing the policy for the group and
formulating the agenda of main meetings
- Publications and Standardisation Group – Providing input to the British
Standards Institution and with the Workshop Group is producing a
series of booklets on aspects of obsolescence management
- Web Site Group – tasked with deciding on the content and
maintenance of the web site
- Workshop Group – deciding on the content of Workshops
- Conference Group – deciding on the format and content of the
COG Conference. It also provides input for the COG Showcase and
the proposal for a joint COG members’ stand at the Electronica
exhibition in Munich, Germany in November 2004.
- Customer Solutions Group – looking at specific solutions for
obsolescence problems
