Use of cadmium is widespread in the aerospace sector and in
batteries. No clear alternative exists at present and environmental

- Lead Free Soldering
Under EU legislation (Waste in Electrical and Electronic Equipment -
WEEE), no lead will be permitted in solders in Europe from 1 July
2006. Japan is well ahead in working to eliminate lead.
